Litigators Insurance Carriers and Defense Firms Take Seriously

Keosian Law LLP is a Los Angeles–based plaintiff trial firm representing people, families, and businesses across California in serious personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, insurance bad faith, mass tort, and complex business litigation.

How insurance companies actually evaluate your case

Major insurers maintain internal scoring models for every claim. They track which firms file suit, which firms take depositions, which firms push past mediation, and — most importantly — which firms have the verdicts to back it up. Claims represented by a firm with a known trial record are coded differently from day one. The reserve set on the file is higher. The adjuster's settlement authority is broader. The defense firm assigned is more senior. Without that pressure, claimants are routinely steered into nuisance-value resolutions that undervalue future medical care, lost earning capacity, diminished property value, and the human reality of what they have lost.

Our practice is built around that asymmetry. We investigate every claim as if it will be presented to a Los Angeles jury, preserve evidence before it disappears, retain the right experts early, and move aggressively through written discovery and depositions. The carriers we face most often — State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, AAA, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Mercury, the California FAIR Plan, and the major commercial carriers — know our name, our verdicts, and our willingness to try cases.

Areas of California litigation we handle

We accept matters across four core practice categories. Each is staffed by attorneys with focused subject-matter experience, supported by an in-house investigation team, and resourced to litigate against well-funded defendants for years if that is what the case requires.

  • Personal Injury & Wrongful Death — catastrophic auto, truck, and motorcycle collisions; pedestrian and bicycle injuries; brain and spinal cord trauma; medical malpractice; dog bites; product liability; premises liability; and wrongful-death actions on behalf of surviving family members throughout California.
  • Property Damage & Insurance Claims — wildfire, smoke, ash, water, flood, earthquake, landslide, vandalism, and burglary losses for California homeowners and businesses, including underpaid and wrongfully denied claims under the California FAIR Plan and standard residential and commercial policies.
  • Insurance Bad Faith — first-party and third-party bad-faith litigation against carriers that deny coverage without a reasonable basis, delay payment of undisputed amounts, mishandle the investigation, refuse to defend, or fail to settle within policy limits when they should.
  • Business & Corporate Litigation — complex commercial disputes, breach of contract, partnership and shareholder disputes, fraud, real-estate litigation, intellectual property, and unfair-competition matters for California companies and their owners.

Active California mass tort investigations

Beyond individual representation, our firm investigates and litigates large-scale harm caused by environmental contamination, defective products, institutional negligence, and catastrophic wildfires. Active California investigations include the Eaton Fire, Palisades Fire, Chiquita Canyon Landfill, Quemetco / Ecobat lead contamination, and the California FAIR Plan underpayment program. If your home, health, or business has been affected by any of these events, our intake team can evaluate your eligibility and explain how mass-tort litigation differs from a standard insurance claim.

What working with us looks like

Initial consultations are free and confidential. No attorney fees or costs unless we recover for you. From the first call, you speak with attorneys and case managers — not a sales script. We explain the law that controls your claim, the realistic timeline, the likely defenses, and the documentary and medical evidence we need to begin building the file. We return calls. We update clients in writing. And we do not recommend a settlement unless we believe it is the right resolution given the evidence, the venue, the policy limits, and the risk of trial.

If you are evaluating counsel for a serious matter anywhere in California, we welcome the call. We will tell you honestly whether your case fits our practice, whether another firm is better suited, and what steps you should take immediately to preserve evidence and protect your rights — whether or not you ultimately retain Keosian Law.

Harout G. Keosian, Founding Partner at Keosian Law LLP

Harout G. Keosian

Founding Partner

Harout G. Keosian is one of the founding Partners of Keosian Law LLP. Prior to the partnership, Mr. Keosian operated as the principal attorney of Keosian Law Group, APC which he established in 2009. At Keosian Law LLP, Mr. Keosian specializes in personal injury, property damage, insurance bad faith and business litigation, fighting to protect consumer rights against big insurance companies.

Harout G. Keosian is a founding partner of Keosian Law LLP and one of California's most experienced consumer-rights trial attorneys. Admitted to the State Bar of California in 2005 after graduating from Southwestern Law School, he built his career representing individuals, families, and small businesses against insurance carriers, large corporations, and at-fault parties who refuse to pay what they owe. Before founding the firm, he served as an associate attorney at a respected plaintiff's law firm in Los Angeles, where he first joined as a law clerk and quickly distinguished himself through his command of complex civil procedure and his courtroom presence. In 2009, Mr. Keosian opened Keosian Law Group, APC to give injured Californians a more focused, high-touch alternative to the volume-driven plaintiff's firms that dominated the local market. That practice grew steadily, and in 2014 it became Keosian Law LLP — a boutique trial firm built around a simple promise: every client receives the strategic attention of a senior partner from intake through verdict. Today, Mr. Keosian's practice spans personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, residential and commercial property damage, insurance bad faith, and business litigation. He has personally tried, settled, or otherwise resolved hundreds of contested matters across Los Angeles County and throughout Southern California. Mr. Keosian is widely regarded as a leading voice in first-party insurance litigation in California. He has built a reputation for refusing to accept lowball offers from major carriers, for forcing insurers to honor the policies they sold, and for taking cases to trial when the carrier's last, best offer still falls short of what his client deserves. His insurance bad-faith practice routinely involves delayed claim handling, unreasonable claim denials, underpayment of covered losses, failure to investigate, and the manipulation of policy language to defeat coverage. He uses California's strong policyholder protections — including Insurance Code section 790.03, the Cumis doctrine, and Brandt fee recovery — to recover not only the contract benefits owed but also tort damages, attorney's fees, and, where the facts support it, punitive damages. A significant portion of Mr. Keosian's docket consists of catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. He represents victims of serious motor vehicle collisions, commercial trucking crashes, premises liability incidents, dog attacks, defective products, and dangerous conditions of public property. In every case he insists on early, aggressive investigation — locking down witness statements, preserving electronic data, securing surveillance footage, and retaining qualified accident reconstruction, biomechanical, medical, life-care planning, and economic experts long before mediation. That early, trial-ready posture is what consistently moves opposing carriers off their initial reserves and into the seven- and eight-figure range. Mr. Keosian also brings a perspective most plaintiff's lawyers never develop. He is a licensed California real estate broker, which gives him an unusually deep working knowledge of property valuation, construction defects, restoration costs, lease disputes, and the underwriting practices of property insurers. That dual licensure has made him a sought-after lawyer for property-damage claims involving high-value residential, mixed-use, and small commercial properties — including fire, smoke, water, wind, theft, vandalism, and earthquake losses. His clients benefit from a lawyer who understands both the legal and the economic anatomy of a damaged property, and who can speak fluently with appraisers, public adjusters, and contractors on his client's behalf. In the firm's business and commercial practice, Mr. Keosian counsels and litigates on behalf of California business owners in contract disputes, partnership disputes, real-estate transactions, lease conflicts, and consumer-facing commercial litigation. He approaches these matters the same way he approaches personal injury cases: with thorough investigation, disciplined pleadings, aggressive discovery, and a clear-eyed view of trial economics from the very first conversation. Beyond his case work, Mr. Keosian is committed to the legal community and to the city he serves. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Armenian Bar Association. He served as an elected member of the Encino Neighborhood Council from 2008 to 2010 and has sat on the boards of multiple community and charitable organizations across the San Fernando Valley. He frequently provides pro bono guidance to community members navigating insurance disputes after fires, floods, and other property losses. Mr. Keosian leads the firm with a clear philosophy: prepare every case for trial, treat every client like family, and never let an insurance company define the value of a human life or a damaged home. When he is not in the office, Mr. Keosian enjoys spending time with his family, following sports and politics, and pursuing his interests in cars, travel, and cigars.

Partner

Zareh Jack Keosian joined Keosian Law in 2009 as a law clerk when his older brother, and now partner, Harout Greg Keosian founded the firm. Mr. Keosian earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Law from California State University, Northridge, where he was named to the Dean's List. He later attended Southwestern Law School, earning his Juris Doctor degree in 2014, and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2015.

Mr. Keosian has dedicated his career to advocating for individuals and businesses who have suffered property damage losses. Known for his strategic approach and unwavering commitment to his clients, he represents plaintiffs in insurance bad faith, property damage, and mass tort matters. His deep knowledge of insurance disputes and his ability to navigate and resolve highly complex claims have resulted in exceptional outcomes for his clients. Unlike most attorneys who handle property damage claims, Mr. Keosian holds the IICRC (WRT) certification, a credential typically earned by restoration professionals, consultants, and industry experts rather than lawyers. This specialized training provides a technical understanding of water intrusion, moisture migration, drying science, and restoration standards that many attorneys do not possess. By combining legal advocacy with hands-on knowledge of the restoration industry, Mr. Keosian is uniquely positioned to analyze property damage claims, evaluate remediation efforts, challenge improper insurance determinations, and communicate effectively with contractors, adjusters, engineers, hygienists, and restoration experts. This dual perspective allows him to identify issues that may be overlooked when a claim is viewed solely through a legal lens. Mr. Keosian currently represents hundreds of property and business owners in Property Damage and Insurance Bad Faith actions against major insurance carriers. His cases span residential and commercial losses caused by fire, smoke, water, wind, theft, vandalism, and earthquake damage. He currently advocates for hundreds of victims affected by the recent wildfires in Eaton Canyon and Palisades, pursuing both first-party insurance claims and third-party litigation against Southern California Edison and government entities. He also represents numerous victims of the growing burglary and vandalism incidents occurring throughout California. Keosian is widely regarded for his successful track record in Property Damage litigation. He is particularly respected for his skill in handling complex water damage claims, where insurance companies frequently attempt to unjustifiably delay, underpay, or deny valid losses. His peers recognize his expertise in this field, and he has earned a reputation as a leading attorney in property damage and insurance bad faith matters. Property and business owners who experience damage are encouraged to contact Mr. Keosian promptly for a comprehensive evaluation of their claims. Outside of his practice, Mr. Keosian is deeply committed to community involvement and non-profit organizations. He currently serves on the school board at Holy Martyrs. He has provided pro bono assistance to numerous individuals and organizations and enjoys traveling with his wife and their two sons.

+5 more awards Anto Touloumdjian, Attorney at Keosian Law LLP

Anto Touloumdjian

Attorney

Anto Touloumdjian is an attorney at Keosian Law LLP, bringing a client-focused approach to personal injury and property damage litigation.

Anto Touloumdjian is an attorney at Keosian Law LLP, where he represents injured Californians and policyholders in a broad mix of personal injury, property damage, fire and wildfire, and insurance bad-faith matters. He has built his practice around one principle: the client comes first, every time. That principle shapes how he investigates a case, how he communicates with the families who entrust him with their claims, and how he negotiates with the insurance carriers and defense lawyers on the other side. Mr. Touloumdjian's personal injury practice covers the full range of accident and premises-liability claims that affect Southern Californians every day. He handles motor vehicle collisions on the freeways and surface streets of Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties, including high-impact crashes involving commercial trucks, rideshare vehicles, delivery vans, and uninsured or underinsured motorists. He represents pedestrians and cyclists struck by negligent drivers, motorcyclists injured by inattentive or distracted operators, and passengers who are catastrophically hurt through no fault of their own. Mr. Touloumdjian also litigates premises liability cases — slip and fall, trip and fall, dog attacks, inadequate security, and dangerous conditions on commercial and public property — where business owners and landlords have failed to keep their property reasonably safe. Across every personal injury case, Mr. Touloumdjian's approach is the same: secure the evidence early, line up the right experts, document the full medical and economic picture, and force the defense to confront the true value of the harm before settlement discussions begin. He works closely with treating physicians, life-care planners, vocational experts, and forensic economists to translate a client's pain, lost income, and future care needs into a number that fully reflects the impact of the injury on their life and their family. When carriers refuse to negotiate in good faith, Mr. Touloumdjian is prepared to push the case toward trial and let a jury decide its true value. A growing portion of Mr. Touloumdjian's practice is focused on California's wildfire and property-damage crisis. He represents homeowners, renters, small landlords, and small-business owners whose properties have been damaged or destroyed by fire, smoke, soot, ash, water intrusion, wind, theft, and vandalism — losses that, in California's hardening insurance market, are too often delayed, underpaid, or denied outright by the carrier. He has handled claims involving major California wildfire events as well as kitchen fires, electrical fires, and total-loss residential fires that never make the headlines but devastate the families who lived there. His work spans both first-party insurance claims against carriers like the California FAIR Plan, State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, AAA, and Mercury, and third-party negligence claims against utilities, contractors, and other parties responsible for the loss. In his insurance bad-faith work, Mr. Touloumdjian uses California's policyholder-protection statutes — including Insurance Code section 790.03, the Unfair Insurance Practices Act, and the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing — to hold carriers accountable when they violate their duties to investigate fully, to communicate honestly, and to pay all benefits owed under the policy. He pursues recovery not only for the underpaid contract benefits but also for the consequential damages, emotional distress, attorney's fees under Brandt v. Superior Court, and punitive damages that California law makes available when a carrier's conduct crosses the line from a coverage dispute into actionable bad faith. Clients who work with Mr. Touloumdjian often describe him as unusually responsive — the lawyer who returns the phone call, who answers the email at night, who explains in plain English what the next step is and why it matters. That accessibility is intentional. Insurance disputes and serious injuries arrive in people's lives at the worst possible moment, and Mr. Touloumdjian believes that one of his most important jobs is to make sure his clients never feel ignored, talked down to, or left in the dark. Mr. He is a member of the State Bar of California and supports the firm's pro bono work in the immigrant, Armenian-American, and Spanish-speaking communities of greater Los Angeles. He is committed to advancing the firm's core mission — leveling the playing field between ordinary Californians and the insurance carriers, corporations, and institutional defendants that too often try to shortchange them — and to making sure every client he represents feels heard, respected, and aggressively defended from the first phone call to the final resolution of their case.

Melanie Seraydarian is an attorney at Keosian Law LLP, where she focuses on Insurance Bad Faith and Mass Tort litigation. Since joining the firm in 2020, she has been dedicated to advocating for clients facing complex legal disputes against powerful insurance companies and corporations.

Melanie Seraydarian is an attorney at Keosian Law LLP, where she focuses her practice on insurance bad faith, first-party property and casualty claims, and mass tort litigation on behalf of California consumers, families, and policyholders. Since joining the firm in 2020, she has dedicated her career to taking on some of the most powerful insurance carriers and corporate defendants in the country and forcing them to honor their obligations to the people they insure and the communities they affect. Ms. Seraydarian earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Law from California State University, Northridge, and her Juris Doctor from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude. Throughout law school she was a consistent academic standout: a place on the Dean's List, multiple Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence in individual courses, and the Justice Bernard S. Jefferson Award for Academic Excellence — one of the school's most respected honors. She was also selected for the Moot Court Honors Program, where she sharpened the legal-research, brief-writing, and appellate-advocacy skills that now anchor her motion practice and her pre-trial work at Keosian Law. Ms. Seraydarian is admitted to practice law in California, including before the Supreme Court of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. That federal admission matters: a meaningful share of California's most consequential mass tort and insurance disputes are removed to federal court or coordinated in federal MDLs, and Ms. Seraydarian is comfortable litigating in either forum. In her insurance bad-faith practice, Ms. Seraydarian represents homeowners, renters, condominium owners, landlords, and small-business owners whose insurance carriers have unreasonably delayed, underpaid, or denied valid claims. Her work covers the full spectrum of first-party property losses — fire, smoke, soot, ash, water, mold, wind, theft, vandalism, and earthquake — and extends to commercial coverage disputes involving business interruption, extra expense, equipment breakdown, and code-upgrade benefits. She uses California's robust policyholder-protection framework — including Insurance Code section 790.03, the Unfair Insurance Practices Act, the appraisal statute, and the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing — to recover not only the contract benefits owed but also tort damages, Brandt attorney's fees, and, when the carrier's conduct warrants it, punitive damages. Ms. Seraydarian's mass tort docket is built around large-scale, multi-plaintiff cases in which corporations, manufacturers, or institutional defendants have caused systemic harm to California communities. She has worked on environmental and toxic-tort matters, defective-product cases, and pharmaceutical and medical-device litigation, where her job is often to coordinate complex factual development across hundreds of clients while preserving the individual story and individualized damages of each one. That work demands rigorous case-management skills, mastery of bellwether and trial-pool procedures, deep familiarity with discovery in coordinated proceedings, and the patience to take a case through years of litigation without ever losing sight of the human beings at its center. Ms. Seraydarian brings all of that to the firm's mass tort group. A significant portion of her recent work has focused on California's wildfire-litigation crisis. She represents survivors of recent wildfire events — including Eaton Canyon and Pacific Palisades — in both first-party insurance claims and third-party negligence actions against utilities, vegetation contractors, and other entities whose conduct contributed to the fires. She also represents policyholders insured by the California FAIR Plan whose claims have been slow-walked, underpaid, or denied, and who need a lawyer willing to push back against a state-mandated insurer that too often treats wildfire survivors as inconveniences rather than customers. Ms. Seraydarian's clients often note her thorough preparation, her clear explanations of complicated coverage and procedural questions, and her willingness to escalate when an adjuster or defense attorney isn't dealing in good faith. She believes that policyholders are entitled to honest answers about their coverage, transparent communication about the status of their claim, and legal representation that takes their loss as seriously as they do. When a case requires litigation, she files quickly, propounds aggressive written discovery, takes meaningful corporate depositions, and prepares the case for trial — because settlement leverage in California insurance and mass tort litigation comes from credible, well-prepared trial readiness, not from posturing. Ms. Outside of her practice, she enjoys traveling internationally, immersing herself in different cultures, and exploring new cuisines, finding that those experiences offer perspective and creativity that strengthen both her advocacy and her connection with the diverse client base the firm serves across Southern California.
